Exploring Sea Anemones

Sea anemones are unusual things, they look quite alien. However, I love their tentacles! Strangely elegant. I like how they are layered up and curve together.

They look like strange creatures from the deep sea, they are quite surreal I think. I like the fact that they have painstakingly been built up on that specific spot, it makes them feel like they belong there.

These are made from hundreds and hundreds of rolls of clay, and then painstakingly constructed. They remind me very much of birds nests and sea anemones. I think they are beautiful, they seem so delicate and fragile, and you can see the work and dedication that has gone into them. Because of their material and fragility, they are site specific and can never be moved.

The first is in Dizengoff Square in Tel Aviv, the second is in the La Défense district in Paris. I love the colours and contrasts! The colours make them seem very positive and friendly to me, which is a nice feeling.

I just adore the colours and contrasts in these... so eyecatching, i'd love to have a wall covered in them! I like looked for all the different colour and size combinations, they are all similar yet each slightly different and unique, reflecting the tree they came from.

Tracy Melton creates these from reclaimed dead elm trees, then paints into them with bright, vibrant acrylic paint. I love how the natural and the artificial sync so well in these, it retains the natural qualities of the wood, while shocking bright colours catch your eye. Very beautiful and I would love to own some!

There is some lovely flowing motion going on here, very elegant. They are quite surreal I think, very noticable and eyecatching. There are some interesting and very unusual sounds created, they really do involve and interact with many of your senses.
